How to transform an idea into the four post types on exp/daily

Universal Transformation Template

For any idea “X”:

  1. Concept of X: What X is (definition, taxonomy, framework)
  2. Method of X: How to do X effectively (process, techniques, guidelines)
  3. Story of X: Why X matters/evolved (narrative, history, perspective)
  4. Practice of X: How to embody X regularly (habit, ritual)

1. Concept

Transformation Rule: Abstract the idea into its defining elements, principles, or taxonomies.

  • Ask: “What IS this thing, fundamentally?”
  • Focus on: Definitions, frameworks, distinctions, classifications
  • Format: Usually includes clear definitions, key elements, and conceptual relationships

2. Method

Transformation Rule: Convert the idea into actionable steps or techniques for implementation.

  • Ask: “HOW can this be done effectively?”
  • Focus on: Procedures, techniques, best practices, common pitfalls
  • Format: Often includes sequential steps, principles of execution, or concrete techniques

3. Story

Transformation Rule: Contextualize the idea within a narrative frame or historical development.

  • Ask: “WHY does this matter? What’s its context or evolution?”
  • Focus on: Origins, evolutions, cultural contexts, personal narratives
  • Format: Typically includes chronology, thematic development, or cause-effect relationships

4. Practice

Transformation Rule: Design recurring activities that embody the idea (in community).

  • Ask: “How can I/we DO/BE this (together) repeatedly for deeper meaning?”
  • Focus on: Regular activities, community engagement, traditions, embodied experience
  • Format: Often includes guidelines for regular engagement, communal aspects, and deeper purpose
